Principal's Message

Hello Rogers Families, 

We are so proud of how hard our Panthers have worked this year! Please continue to monitor your student’s attendance and academic progress on google classroom, PowerSchool, and Class Dojo. We want our students to continue to achieve academic excellence. Please encourage your student to attend the support opportunities provided by their teachers. Teachers will share this information on google classroom, email, and Class Dojo. If you need any assistance, please reach out to the teachers, counselors, administration, or office staff. We are here to support our families!

Snapcodes: You will be receiving a snapcode to complete the online registration for your returning student(s) for the 2021-2022 school year. The snapcodes will be emailed at the end of May. Please make sure to check your email for your Snapcode.

imageBlack Men in White Coats: Join us in viewing Black Men in White Coats, a documentary film that explores barriers preventing black men from becoming doctors. Limited film codes will be available for viewing between May 14th-16th. Click here to sign up.

Series of 5 online cooking and nutrition classes: Pompea Smith Good Cooking/ Buena Cocina Nutrition Education Program invites you to participate in our series of 5 online cooking and nutrition classes offered via Zoom. All families in LESD  are encouraged to attend. To register please visit: For more information please contact or at 310-676-4806 ext 51221 or Camille thorsen at If families participate in 4 out of 5 classes, they will earn a certificate of completion and a "Swag Bag". Classes will start on 5/4 and will be held every Tuesday until 6/1. English session will be from 3:30-4:30pm and the Spanish session from 5-6pm. 

Street Safety Rules: As we open our schools for in-person learning for the parents who have requested it, we encourage parents/guardians to spend time reviewing street safety rules with your children. 
The crossing guards that helped guide students safely across the street used to be provided by the City of Lawndale, but they terminated the contract last June.  As a result, there will be no crossing guards to guide your students to school.

Summer RAP Application is open!: If you would like your student to attend RAPs free hybrid and remote summer program, please use the following links to enroll.

District Updates

meal service update

On Wednesday, February 3rd, meal distribution will not be available at Smith Elementary. We apologize for the inconvenience, but Smith families can pick up meals at any of the following sites on that day: FDR, Twain, Anderson, Green, Addams, or Mitchell.


Meal distribution will not be available on the dates below at all of our sites.


  • Monday, Jan. 18th
  • Monday, Feb. 8th
  • Monday, Feb. 15th


You will receive meals for the Monday on the previous Wednesday.
