Positive Behaviors Intervention Supports (PBIS)

What is P.B.I.S.?

The basis of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports program is recognizing our students' positive contributions. Our goal is to help each child develop self-discipline. The home and school share the responsibility for developing good citizens. Parents, teachers and students must work together to maintain a safe learning environment.

As a part of PBIS, teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff will have the responsibility to teach positive behavior expectations to students. PBIS means students will know exactly what is expected of them. Students who take responsibility to behave positively will be recognized and rewarded in a variety of ways.

Students will also know the consequences that will result when they choose NOT to meet the school-wide expectations.

At Rogers we show our Panther P.A.W.

As part of our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program at Rogers Middle School we focus on Practicing Safety (P), Acting Respectfully (A), and Working Towards Success (W)!

Our school-wide efforts teaching resilience and empathy are included on two additional pages in the counseling section.

Our Expectations

  • Be here every day
  • Be on time to class
  • Be ready to learn
  • Be active academic participants
  • Be responsible citizens

The PAW Points program recognizes students who demonstrate their Panther P.A.W. by practicing safety, acting respectfully, and working toward success. PAW Points can be turned in for prizes throughout the year at the PAW Points Store. Details about the PAW Points Store re-opening will be coming soon!

P.B.I.S. Assemblies

Our school hosts assemblies to review and teach how we practice P.A.W. throughout the school year. We also review and teach behavioral expectations in the classroom at least once a trimester and as needed.

P.A.W. Trimester Awards

We love to recognize when students are practicing P.A.W! We invite students who follow behavioral expectations to participate in a celebration once a trimester. In the past we have hosted games, dodgeball and field days.

Rogers  has been using P.A.W. Points where students get rewarded for good behavior and showing excellent actions at school to show PBIS. Once a week students are able to redeem their P.A.W. Points for special rewards!

A few things you can redeem are school supplies, art supplies, school privileges, yearbook, and other larger prizes.
