Welcome to the Counseling Department

Counseling Staff

The Counseling Department provides assistance to our students in order for them to have a successful three year experience at Rogers. We recognize that the middle school years are an opportunity for positive growth during the often challenging transition through adolescence.   Ms. Swick and Ms. Santamaria focus on assisting students during this transition by focusing services on meeting the academic, social and emotional needs of the students.

Counseling Mission Statement

We believe all students have the potential to be successful with guidance and support. We strongly believe in reaching the whole child by promoting academic achievement and cultural awareness while meeting their personal/social needs. We strive to prepare all students to be lifelong learners who are ready to succeed in today’s society.

Support Groups

During the school year, the counselors offer small group counseling for skill learning.  Group topics are listed below, but are not limited to these topics.  Groups are offered based on need.  These groups include academic guidance, peer relations/ social groups, grief, communication skills and positive coping skills.

Classroom Guidance

The counselors conduct a series of classroom presentations to all grade levels on a variety of topics aimed at providing academic, career and social/ emotional guidance.  Guidance lesson topics include career exploration, high school planning, character education, bullying, sexual harassment and peer helping skills.  In addition to providing valuable information to students, these lessons provide an opportunity for the counselors to build rapport with the student body.
